The trip so far at the halfway stage....

Trip so far at the half-way stage.

I think we can say that many, if not all, of our preconceptions have proved to be unfounded. There are not enough words in my lexicon to describe adequately the sensations we have experienced. Only one word comes close and that is ‘kaleidoscope’. The whole experience of this wonderful country is a kaleidoscopic assault on all the senses and more. The sights, sounds, smells and experiences all set to the music of the traffic and human interaction. We have experienced universal cordiality and politeness and none of the aggressive salesmanship which we thought might be the case. A polite no, maybe repeated a couple of times, is adequate to deter most hawkers.

Although there may seem to be the impression of poverty when compared with the situation in USA, we saw much less abject poverty than perhaps we thought we might.

The organization of the trip has been flawless and although pace of the trip has been hectic, every sight and activity has been eminently worthwhile and unmissable. One place after another has revealed amazing visions and impressions.

This trip could only ever be a snapshot of such a great and diverse country but this snapshot has come in 4-D!!

All the hotels, meals and other arrangements have been first class and we cannot praise or thank Darshana and Hemant enough for their untiring efforts on our behalf. It has been a simply transforming experience for us which we will never forget.
